Joseph Pilates

Joseph Pilates

The Pilates method was named after its creator, Joseph Pilates, the German-born gymnast, boxer and diver who lived in the early 1900s. He believed that every human is born with one universal right, the right to maintain good health. From that idea grew a complete repertoire of hundreds of specific movements to help the spine and joints of adult bodies become supple and "young" again. Joseph Pilates believed that his method enabled people to attain “true health.” By this, he meant obtaining and maintaining a uniformly developed body with balance among the body, mind, and spirit. It is in this light that he developed the guiding principals of Pilates:
* Breath
* Concentration
* Centring
* Control
* Precision
* Flow
For more information on Joseph Pilates and his method, please ask us about his book, Return to Life, which is available at the centre.
L’approche CoreBody

The CoreBody approach

The CoreBody Pilates method fully integrates the classical philosophies and teachings of Joseph Pilates, while adding some of the more recent advances in exercise science, kinesiology and neuromuscular techniques. Every moment in the CoreBody method initiates from the breath and the core, or the centre of the body, which includes the abdominal muscles and deep muscles of the pelvis and spine.

Through the breath and movement, we work to properly align joints and balance muscle groups, which creates symmetry in the body. The result is easy and efficient movement. Whether your goal is to participate in a marathon, decrease back pain or injury, or to have enough energy at the end of a long day to play with your children, CoreBody Pilates will give you the tools to do so.

Our professors are hand-picked among the best in and around Paris, all of whom have undergone rigorous training. All fully certified on all pieces of Pilates equipment to teach all levels, the CoreBody teaching staff is highly qualified to guide you through the method. Representing the New York school, the school of the Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado, and the CoreBody school, our professors specialise in classical Pilates with careful attention to the needs of each individual client.
